Linux installation with Vista

Just before installing Vista I recommend resizing the Vista partition with the Vista disk management tool (I do not know the exact name) neither with gparted nor with distribution's installation resize process)

Vista boot errors

winload.exe......is missing or corrupt.

If you get a winload.exe......is missing or corrupt. then you will have to edit your BCD database so that it meets your hard disk signature. Please check: Error message when you start Windows Vista: "The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information" for more information on how to fix it.

Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

Please check: Using GParted to Resize Your Windows Vista Partition

Whenever I boot into Windows I loose my Grub menu

While we try to find a better solution I recommend you to use the How to Boot Grub from Windows.
