ls command not returning values
« on: 2014/07/20, 01:39:35 am »
Hi I have a CD-ROM containing RESCATUX 0.30.2
if i boot from this CD and press c to take me to the grub command linethen on this PC then the command

ls

will return a list of devices

but on my old legacy PC ls just hangs no return and no information.

if it were to work i would then

search --file /LID
set root=hdx
chainloader +1
boot

and boot to the MBR Grub menu on my USB stick that has the file /LID

I need help as I am struggling to understand all of this

Thanks in advance

My advice is to select Super Grub2 Disk at boot menu.

Once in Super Grub2 Disk press 'c' key.

Selecting Super Grub2 Disk changes the display mode so that it's text only and it should work in most screens setups and probably fix other Grub functionality issues.

Another option might be to test Rescatux 0.31 beta 5 which still had Super Grub2 Disk (with probably a different Grub2 version) within it.

Finally it might be a problem of the BIOS not showing available devices to Grub.
