Title: Grub2 configuration needed -URGENT HELP NEEDED!
Post by: contadinoblu on 2012/10/03, 12:49:03 pm
I installed linux on my usb key from a live linux dvd.
On the pc there is windows 7.
If I now boot the computer it shows me a grub2 screen in rescue mode because it doesn't find the usb linux partition.

If I insert the usb key the pc boot process shows me the grub2 menu with linux and windows 7, both links work!

I don't want to insert the usb key everytime I boot the computer.
It's necessary for me configuring the grub2 to load automatically windows 7 without the insertion of the usb key.

I don't mind about losing the linux voice from the grub2 menu.

Please, I need help!

Your usb key installation was faulty because you didn't make sure that grub2 went to the usb key mbr and not the internal mbr.

In such cases what you have to do is boot into Windows and fix its boot from within it.

In order to boot into Windows in such situations you can use Super Grub2 Disk.

P.S.: I know you have solved your problem. It's a general answer.
